The Folds of Honor Foundation was founded in 2007 by Major Dan Rooney, a former F-16 pilot, golf course owner, PGA Professional and USGA member. A Major in the Air National Guard and a decorated military aviator, Rooney has served three combat tours in Iraq. After returning from his second tour, Major Rooney witnessed a profound situation that drove him to create the Folds of Honor Foundation.

Major Dan “Noonan” Rooney has flown his F-16 on three tours of duty in Iraq. He is a PGA golf professional, founder of The Patriot Golf Club, and the founder and president of the Folds of Honor Foundation. The Folds of Honor has raised over $13 million and awarded over 2,600 educational scholarships for the families of fallen and disabled veterans.
Major Rooney has been awarded the Air National Guard’s Distinguished Service Medal, Air Force Combat Air Medal, Ellis Island Medal of Honor, and PGA of America’s first Patriot Award. He was given the White House Volunteer Service award by President George W. Bush and was named one of People Magazine’s Heroes of the Year and ABC World News Persons of the Year.
Major Rooney is an inspiring motivational speaker. He was called upon by Corey Pavin as the only person to speak to the Ryder Cup team in 2010. He works exclusively for the distinguished Washington Speakers Bureau. He has shared his mission with many Fortune 500 companies including Wells Fargo, Anheuser Busch, Northwestern Mutual, Polo Ralph Lauren, and CDW.
